What is a Body Scan Meditation?

Following along with a body scan meditation involves moving your attention through various parts of the body while taking note of any sensations, such as tingling, tightness, temperature, or noticing a lack of sensation.

Typically a body scan is done by lying down on the floor, couch, bed, or another soft surface, but you can absolutely do it while sitting up in a chair as well.

Whatever feels most comfortable for you!

During this 10-Minute Body Scan Meditation:

  • We start off by grounding ourselves into the present moment by focusing on our breath
  • We then slowly and systematically move our attention through the various areas of the body, from the top of the head, down to your feet, noting any physical sensations along the way.
  • We wrap up with an awareness of the entire body, as we feel into it & take nice deep breaths.
